I would prefer a partner who is private about being herpes positive. Even so, I would be willing to give a try with someone who is public.
I bacame interested in what others prefer after reading a blog where the person said they hoped to find someone who kept it private.
So what do all of you feel?

`I honestly wouldn't care but if you mean out in public as in telling everybody then yes, that would bother me. But I don't mind having told who you feel comfortable telling.

`It depends on who you're telling. I think it should be a joint decision between both partners to tell someone, unless it's a trusted friend of either person. If it's anyone that could possibly spread word about it at your workplace or whatever, then no, it's not worth it, because it could damage a friendship or reputation if the other person isn't mature/educated enough. Honestly, it's no one's business except for the two people that have it, because the only real damage herpes does is to a person's ability to find a mate. Once you're in a relationship with someone else who already has it, it ceases to become an issue anymore.

To me i could go either way its not that important to me if its private or not. Right now in my home town some i have told and some i havent and i'm not worried about it. If they don't want to b with me then they arent meant for me anyway and if they do decide they want to give it a shot then we could do that too. In my life i have told some guys who wanted me and some still wanted to b with me and some did not. I could go either way because it doesn't matter i'm confident about my status and i'm prepared for what ppl will say and wont say and it doesn't matter what they think especially when it comes to that. I'm living my life not them. So either way its all good with me. Private or not i'll give it a shot, but i'm looking for something serious. A monogamous relationship so anyone who wants to b with me just has to also b prepared that their status may come out also. If the gentleman who wants to b with me is game then i am too. |

`I WOULD PREFER SOMEONE PRIVATE...BECAUSE ALTHOUGH I HAVE FINALLY ACCEPTED THE FACT THAT I HAVE HERPES..I'M NOT COMFORTABLE LETTING EVERYONE ELSE KNOW...NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT ME EXCEPT THE DOC, GOD, AND ME...SO I'M JUST SEEKING PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND THE SITUTATION AND I WON'T HAVE 2 HAVE THAT AWKWARD CONVERSATION ABOUT HERPES

`I think it's amazing how everyone who has it refers to it as "The Situation" which it is one but I like how everyone that I have spoken to that has it and now even here people are calling it by the same name.

`Well I would prefer private I just don't want too many people to know about my situation. The only way I can be open if I move to a place where nobody knew me, but as far as my family and everybody knowing "its not gonna happened". I guess I got this reputation I'm trying to keep. I just wanna move away anyways, but for educational wise I would be open about my situation to others!!!

I don't mind if my partner is public or not, I'd just rather date someone w herpes rather then someone who doesn't. Its just a point of being comfortable, in that case your partner understands you're emotions & that guilt factor about passing it on doesn't exist.

Ive only told one person and that was my best friend... and thank god she didn't judge me but as she said made us closer because of the fact that i was comfortable enough to tell her (and she still hasn't told anyone)... i don't like everyone in my business, I'm from a small town where there is full of uneducated people in it... so ... just to keep me and my family safe, i choose private.
